How Maplex works
Maplex is a deterministic legal execution engine that operates over jurisdiction-scoped, versioned rule sets stored in a structured database. Unlike legal technology stacks that layer workflow interfaces over foundation models, Maplex encodes transaction mappings, contract templates, review logic, and due diligence workflows directly into relational rule graphs and generates outputs through repeatable, auditable transformations.
Each supported jurisdiction maintains its own scoped rule sets, templates, and workflows. When a user selects a transaction, contract type, or diligence workflow, the system retrieves the applicable encoded rules and produces structured outputs. Coverage is bounded by the rule sets stored in the database.
Due diligence runs operate as structured workflows composed of steps, evidence requirements, severity thresholds, and reporting logic. Uploaded documents are processed through lexical retrieval and deterministic extraction routines; optional semantic retrieval and OCR may be enabled via Cloudflare Workers AI bindings, but are not required for core operation.
Maplex runs entirely on Cloudflare infrastructure: Pages (UI), Worker (API), D1 (structured rule store), and R2 (private document storage). The UI communicates exclusively with the Worker; the database is never accessed directly from the browser. Legal outputs are derived from versioned, jurisdiction-scoped rule sets, enabling repeatability, traceability, and audit-friendly evaluation of compliance against encoded requirements.
